June 2009
Birmingham-based biotechnology company
Henderson Morley plc has announced its public offer in a bid to raise funding
of £1 million to finance its working capital needs and to further develop its
vaccine programme. The offer is
partially underwritten by the Company’s executive directors and others.
Operating from its virology and molecular
biology research facilities, the Company specialises in the research and development
of anti-viral drugs and vaccines to fight a wide range
of diseases in humans and animals. The Company was advised by Bromsgrove-based
lawyers Thomas Horton LLP, and Jeff Taylor, newly appointed Head of Corporate
Services at the firm said:
‘Everyone is
aware of what a challenging time it is for businesses seeking to raise funds
through the capital markets. However,
the biotechnology sector has proved to be relatively robust and stable, so we
are optimistic that Henderson Morley will raise the funds it needs to continue its
development plans. We have been
delighted to advise Henderson Morley on this fundraising exercise.’
Andrew Knight, Chairman of Henderson Morley
commented:
‘Many of our shareholders have indicated a desire to participate in
fundings and we are delighted to be
able to offer them this opportunity. The additional funding we are seeking to raise
will allow us to drive our anti-viral drug and vaccine research programme
towards market success. We were really
pleased with the support and advice we received from Jeff and the team at Thomas
Horton.’
Recent Feedback about our Business Services Team:
“ I recently worked with Jeff Taylor and the Horton’s team on the acquisition of a professional services business for a client. I found them to be hard working, focused and empathetic to the particular needs of the client and the project. They felt like a safe pair of hands – but more than that, they seemed to genuinely care about giving a first class service.” John Wheatley, Price Pearson Wheatley Accountants. " The team at Hortons took the time to listen and to understand our industry and particular needs. The new contractual documentation they produced for us and the practical approach they took to a potential dispute we had, was just right and was delivered within our agreed
budget." Brett Walton President and CEO VGChartz Limited.“Thomas Horton recently advised us on the issue of a public share offer document under FSMA section 21. I, along with Dr Ian Pardoe, worked very closely with Jeff Taylor to get this task completed, and I am pleased to say that the offer was successful. We enjoyed working with Thomas Horton, who did everything as discussed and requested, and whose knowledge was invaluable in getting everything sorted. On the back of this positive experience, we expect to continue to use your firm for other commercial activity over the next few months and going forward.” Andrew Knight, Executive Chairman, Henderson Morley Plc
“Having been the UK Managing Director of a large manufacturing business in the West Midlands for many years I am used to dealing with lawyers, and handling redundancy situations. When I found myself to be affected by an International reorganization and facing redundancy myself I had no hesitation in turning to the team at Thomas Horton. They helped me to secure a sensible settlement and handled the situation sensitively, focusing on what was important to me, and what was achievable. They also helped me to focus on the future and even steered me towards new business opportunities; a service I frankly wasn’t expecting from a firm of lawyers.” RW (personal details withheld).
